Ganggyeong Festival for traditional and delicious special salted seafood
This event is held for tourists and for letting people know about the superiority of Ganggyeong traditional and delicious salted seafood, which follows the sixty year old tradition of Ganggyeong inlet.
This special seafood celebration is the best of its kind in Korea, and has been held every year around October since starting in 1977.
Ganggyeong, located deep inland, was the busiest market during the 1930s, and was one of key points for the sea and land transportation of various commercial marine products.
Many people travel to Ganggyeong to purchase the specially salted seafood so it is one of the busiest fisheries market with many wholesale and retail businesses.
The special salted seafood is fermented food; therefore, the method and process of fermentation decides the taste and quality.
Fermentation is conducted at 10~15 degrees Celsius in low temperature modern and scientific facilities and not in the traditional dugout.
