The kimchi-making event to help neighbors in difficult situations
endure the cold of winter is continuing. The Saemaeul Women's Group
of Gwonseon-gu carried out the kimchi-making event from 21~23 of last
month, handing out the kimchi to over 500 desperate people, including
those living on basic welfare, the elderly, children living alone
without their parents, and other unfortunate neighbors. The Gwonseon-
gu Women's Group picked the leaf-mustard. cabbage and radish to make
the kimchi from vegetables planted on unused land in Geumho-dong, and
purchased any additional ingredients needed in the project. 4200
heads of lettuce were made into kimchi. On the 15th and 18th of last
month, the Saemaeul Women's Groups of Paldal-gu and Jangan-gu also
made kimchi to share with the less fortunate. The City of Suwon will
be holding a 'Kimchi for our Neighbors' event from the 24th to 26th,
where the Saemaeul groups of Suwon will participate in making kimchi
out of 7500 heads of cabbage to help people in difficulty. |
