The goal of the plan is to offer opportunities for foreigners in Seoul to present one's national culture through cultural events, while providing various cultural experiences to tourists and citizens, thereby boosting Seoul's image.

Overview of the Project
- Period: April ~ December 2004

- Venue: Places where citizens and tourists can easily access

- Participants: Foreign communities and embassies in Korea

- Support by the Seoul Metropolitan Government: Financial support (up to 5 million won for 80% or lower of the cost) to a total of around seven events

Contents of the Cultural Events
Non-profit cultural events of a foreign nation or community, that is non-ideological and non-religious.

Application
Applications should be submitted to the Seoul Help Center for Foreigners by March 27, 2004, along with a detailed plan, introduction of the community and a letter of recommendation (Download the application forms: .DOC). Applications can be submitted by mail (Seoul Help Center for Foreigners, 31, Taepyeongno 1-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul, 100-744, Korea), e-mail (moy412@naver.com) or in person.

Screening Process
A screening committee will select performers based on the criteria of expected popularity, and the experience of the community or organization.

Both the selection of performers and confirmation of the scale of support provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government will be made by April 10, and posted on the Web site of the Seoul Metropolitan Government and that of the Seoul Help Center for Foreigners in due course.

We intend to select around two events to be involved in the Seoul Friendship Fair, which will be run on May 9, 2004 as a part of the 2004 Hi Seoul Festival.

We will offer a preference to the cultural events, which can be presented for about 10 minutes at the Seoul Friendship Fair in addition to their main events.

Scope and Scale of Support
Financial support: Up to 5 million won may be given to help cover up to 80% or lower of the costs of the event.

Financial support will be given after a consultation with the foreign community and signing an agreement.

The performing organization and related foreign community should hold the event according to the plan, and submit to the Mayor a report on the event including financial details and related photographs within two weeks after the event.
