Subject : What is Korean Dishes?
A number of the more elegant Korean dishes have been handed down from the cuisine of the royal court. Representing the essence of the Korean food tradition, these sumptuous foods were prepared by talented chefs who used the best ingredients transported from every region across the nation. Since only yangban, or aristocrats, living in Seoul ever had the opportunity to actually see what was served to royalty and then convey the information beyond the royal court walls, Seoul cuisine is very similar to that which was served in the royal court. In times past, even the highest ranking Koreans were not allowed to have a maximum of twelve side dishes at a meal, in addition to the rice, gimchi and soup. In modern days, diners can get a glimpse (and a taste) of royal court cuisine when they order hanjeongsik (Korea table dho^te or full-course Korean meal) served in traditional Korean food restaurants.
