The Kimchi Museum was built to study the culture of Kimchi, one of the most Well-known Korean foods, and provide proper information on kimchi to Koreans and foreigners in Pil-dong hoong-gu Seoul in1986. Based on the founding ideal of preserving and developing Korean traditional food, pulmuone Inc. has run and expended the museum was moved to the COEX.
As the third ASEM meeting will be held in Seoul in 2000, the museum was transferred to the ASEM Convention Center in Samsung-dong, Seoul and we became to offer visitors more various information on kimchi than before.
So Far, the museum has prepared video materials for kimchi and opened a lecture for house wives and young people, In addition, through numerous exhibitions on temple kimchi and North Korean kimchi, the museum has helped people to understand Korean traditional food.
Not only that, we have collected theses, books and articles on kimchi and played a key role in informing people around the world of Korea's kimchi culture through foreign media including New York Times and BBC.
The newly opened museum aims to advertise children and foreigners of kimchi. The museum displays historic cooking utensils, a variety of kimchi and other stuff related to kimchi and other stuff related to kimchi. In addition, we show how to make Kimjang Kimchi, which is made in a special way for winter. The data on fermentation and the effect of kimchi on human body is also on display.
The library, the tasting room and kimchi shops are also helpful to understanding kimchi.
