The World Renowned Boryeong Mud Festival of South Korea

Out of all the Korean festivals that international visitors seek, the 2008 Boryeong Mud Festival has become the South Korean representative festival which the Ministry Of Culture & Tourism proudly recognizes. This year the festival will run for nine days (July 12th~July 20th) at Boryeong City’s Daecheon Beach in Chungcheongnam-do Province. Boryeong’s flats have a higher concentration of Germanium and a host of other minerals that are beneficial for the skin. Due to such strong presence of excellent skin revitalizing qualities, the festival attracts more than 30,000 international visitors every year.  And, to better accommodate scheduling, festivities run night and day so that everyone can enjoy them at their own leisure.

Mud Festival Guide

From fun and exciting activities to various forms of mud therapy, there are always plenty of programs to choose from. During the mud festival it is possible to receive mud massages as well. (International visitors participating in the festival will receive a 30% discount) On the roads circling the beach, programs are held to train both the body and mind. Guests can ski down tidal flats or participate in physically rigorous military training simulations. The main venue for mud festival hosts a large mud bath, capable of accommodating several people at a time, and massages are also readily available. For those of you wanting a more exciting time, you will discover a plethora of amusing activities such as the mud slides, games, and obstacle courses. Those of you wanting to take a piece of the festivities home now have the opportunity to build a festival character out of mud at the modest price of 3000 won ~ 5000 won.
